Thoughts as Mirrors: Reflecting Our Inner Energy

Thoughts as Energy Reflectors

Have you ever thought that our thoughts mirror our energy? There’s a saying: “We are what we eat.” An even more powerful statement is that “We are what we think”. I got introduced to this concept after graduating from high school. Our good family friends gave me a book called “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay. It has been my introduction to the world of intentional positive thinking.

You can find a movie with the same title here:

and a book:

While the link states that it is a paperback. You can choose a different format.

The concept that our thoughts and the energy that we produce as a message to the universe that this is more of what we want in our lives is not only taught by Louise Hay. In my exploration, I found this concept common to most if not all motivational, inspirations, transformational and spiritual teachers. You might ask why is this the case? Because it is the key to manifestation. The universe reflects our thought energy right back to us and we are the mirror. When we’re critical or unsure, we send out negative vibes. These negative vibes come back to us like a mirror reflection. But when we’re confident and trust our abilities, positive energy bounces back to us.

The Myth of Multitasking

Today, people praise multitasking. But we need to understand how our thoughts affect our lives. We are even encouraged to do this in our work lives while supporting countless work meetings and having to complete other work commitments during this time. The reality is that our minds don’t truly multitask. They just switch between tasks quickly.

This is described in the npr episode:

On the same page the transcription of this talk is available.

Similarly, there is a book by Dave Crenshaw with the same title:

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed or worried, it’s hard to “snap out of it.” It is possible however to shift your focus to something positive. This change breaks the cycle of negative thinking. And while it may seem strange at first, the intentionality of these thoughts along with the universe mirroring the energy right back at us would help us to eventually feel better.

The Power of Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the big tools in our toolset. When negative thoughts spin around, gratitude can ground us and help give us perspective. It’s a strong tool against negativity. There’s always something to be thankful for, big or small. Being grateful for basic things, like waking up or having clean water, can pull us out of negative loops.

Movement as a Perspective Changer

A small physical action, like walking or stretching, can change how we see things. It moves us from feeling powerless, like victims, to feeling in control. Every positive thought, combined with small actions, pushes us towards a more positive life.
