Why I became a coach

Hello! Coaching is a highly impactful and rewarding calling. Coaches help their clients reach their dreams faster, and I am thrilled to be one of them. You may wonder what made me become a coach. I have always wanted to help others. I have always been passionate about being the best I can be in everything I do. Coaching enables me to share my passion for self-improvement with others, although, initially, I did not realize that I was doing so. At its grassroots, it took the form of helping my classmates with their homework or listening to a friend or family member.

I do not only want to dump the information on others. I know, more than anyone, the importance of providing a safe place for someone to absorb this information and ask questions. Nobody is perfect, and everyone rarely gets everything right on the first try. Others may judge the less-than-optimal outcome from the outside, preventing the person from trying again. I often hear, “We are not in kindergarten anymore,” when they mean, “I expect better from you.” There are some things that we forget. When children are in kindergarten, they are usually praised for taking any action and gently guided on how to improve.

When they grow up, they hear, “You are doing it wrong,” and have to deal with enormous mental blocks to take the same action. So yes, “We are not in kindergarten anymore,” and this is why everyone needs empathy and a safe space to let go of their limiting beliefs and feel as secure as if they are in kindergarten to take action and work toward their dreams rather than crumble in a little ball due to fear of failure. My seven-year-old told me that he already has this fear. Can you imagine how deep this is engrained if, from 7 every day, there is a slow but consistent threat to this safety? This is why I choose to be there for someone through their transformation and cheer them on their journey. I do not have the same standardized performance evaluation for everyone. Coaching is not a cookie-cutter plan, even on programs that have specialized structures. Each journey is individual, even if participants are doing the same exercises. Everyone has different insights that speak to them. The only people that someone needs to think about are themselves.
